ENT(Ear Nose Throat) handpiece:

About ENT handpieces, they are mainly to do otolaryngology surgery commonly, do a few things that cut hyperplasia respect. It can be used with all optical fibers like 200um, 300um, 400um and 600um optical fiber. It has in total 7 different shapes of needles that is suitable for all treatment on Ear Nose and Throat.

ENT handpiece-3ENT handpiece-2 Surgical laser handpieces (applicators) are medical instruments with mechanical structures for guiding and securing fibers for precise and controlled application, for laser beam interaction with biological tissue. These applicators are typically used in contact mode.

They consist of a handle for freehand application, shaped fiber guide tubes, and a fixation unit. The handpiece is only temporarily connected to the fiber.

Lasers produce a focused beam of light that can cut, vaporize, or coagulate tissue. The light energy is absorbed by the targeted tissue, allowing for precise and controlled surgical interventions. This precision reduces damage to surrounding tissues, minimizes bleeding, and promotes faster healing. ENT handpiece-4

Applications of ENT Lasers

  1. Fibroma Removal

Fibromas are benign tumors that can develop in various parts of the body, including the ENT region. Laser technology allows for the precise and minimally invasive removal of fibromas, reducing the risk of recurrence and ensuring a smoother recovery.

  1. Tonsillectomy

Tonsillectomy, the surgical removal of the tonsils, is a common procedure often performed to treat chronic tonsillitis or sleep apnea. Laser tonsillectomy reduces bleeding, minimizes post-operative pain, and promotes faster healing compared to traditional surgical methods.

  1. Stapedectomy

Stapedectomy is a surgical procedure to improve hearing in patients with otosclerosis, a condition that affects the bones in the middle ear. Lasers enable precise removal of the stapes bone and the placement of a prosthesis, enhancing the success rate of the procedure and reducing the risk of complications.

  1. LAUP (Laser-Assisted Uvulopalatoplasty)

LAUP is a procedure used to treat snoring and sleep apnea by removing excess tissue in the throat. Lasers offer a precise and controlled method for tissue removal, improving airway patency and reducing symptoms with minimal discomfort.

  1. Nasal Turbinate Reduction

Nasal turbinate reduction is performed to improve nasal airflow and alleviate chronic nasal congestion. Laser technology allows for the targeted reduction of turbinate tissue, resulting in better breathing and fewer complications than traditional surgical techniques.

  1. Vocal Cord Nodule & Polyp Treatment

Vocal cord nodules and polyps can cause hoarseness and vocal difficulties. Lasers provide a minimally invasive way to remove these growths, preserving healthy vocal cord tissue and ensuring a quick return to normal voice function.

  1. Scar Tissue Removal

Scar tissue in the airway can result from previous surgeries or injuries, leading to breathing difficulties. Lasers can effectively remove or reduce scar tissue, restoring airway function and improving the patient’s quality of life.

  1. Sinus Surgery (FESS – Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery)

Lasers can assist in the removal of polyps and other obstructions in the sinus passages during Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS). This minimally invasive approach improves sinus drainage and alleviates chronic sinusitis symptoms.

  1. Laryngeal Papillomatosis

Lasers are effective in treating laryngeal papillomatosis, a condition caused by HPV (human papillomavirus) that leads to the growth of benign tumors in the larynx. Laser treatment helps remove these papillomas with precision and minimal impact on surrounding tissues.

  1. Laryngeal Cancer

Lasers can be used in the treatment of early-stage laryngeal cancers, offering a minimally invasive option for tumor removal. This approach preserves healthy tissue and vocal function, leading to better patient outcomes.

  1. Epistaxis (Nosebleeds)

Chronic or severe nosebleeds, known as epistaxis, can be effectively treated with lasers. The laser cauterizes the blood vessels, stopping the bleeding quickly and reducing the risk of recurrence.

  1. Zenker’s Diverticulum

Lasers can be used in the endoscopic treatment of Zenker’s diverticulum, a pouch that can form at the junction of the throat and esophagus. This minimally invasive technique improves swallowing function and reduces symptoms.

Benefits of Soft Tissue Lasers

Soft tissue lasers offer numerous advantages in ENT treatments, including:

Precision: Lasers allow for highly accurate targeting of tissues, minimizing damage to surrounding areas.

Minimal Bleeding: The coagulative properties of lasers reduce intraoperative and post-operative bleeding.

Reduced Pain: Patients experience less pain during and after procedures, leading to a more comfortable recovery.

Faster Healing: Laser-treated tissues tend to heal more quickly, reducing downtime for patients.

Lower Risk of Infection: The sterilizing effect of laser beams decreases the likelihood of post-surgical infections.
